New Year’s Greetings from The Blues Foundation

On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of The Blues Foundation, thanks to all of you who have supported The Blues Foundation in 2009 through your memberships, donations, and ticket, merchandise and ad purchases. We hope you will do it again in 2010. Thanks for volunteering, for buying recorded blues and going out to see and hear live blues music. We hope you have the time, health and finances to do even more of it in 2010.

Here are a couple of important items that could not wait until the January newsletter—

January 3 is the date of the first of our weekly drawings among members who have gone online to vote for the 2010 Blues Music Awards. Each week, 5 random voters will receive a gift from us in appreciation for doing their civic duty. The first group will receive a copy of the nominated DVD—A Night in Woodstock by Paul Rishell and Annie Raines. Vote here right now!

January 8 is the last day to reserve a room at the IBC host hotel--the Doubletree Memphis Downtown. Additional rooms were made available as of December 29. Call 901-528-1800 to speak with in-house reservations to get room at IBC discounted rate of $115.

January 11 may not really be a deadline but the point is to remind you that in recent years advance sales of Big Blue IBC tickets have been terminated in mid-January. The Big Blue ticket includes the Friday Keynote lunch and the Keeping the Blues Alive Awards brunch. These incredible events have capacity limitations. If you wish to attend these stellar events, get that Big Blue before it is too late. In recent years, walk-up Big Blue tickets have not been available. The KBA's are an incredibly inspiring morning accompanied by a fantastic gourmet spread. At last year's Keynote lunch, Craig Hopkins played a tape of Stevie Ray Vaughan at 15 performing “I’m Your Vehicle.” This year's keynote speaker Richard Flohil will no doubt provide another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
